The American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking® Facilitator Overview Training is a
2.5-hour certification training for those individuals working to become certified Freedom From Smoking®
facilitators and conduct group programs within
their communities and beyond. Prior to this course, participants will have completed both Tobacco
Basics and How to Help People Quit.
The Facilitator Overview Training course includes interactive components to support all
learning styles. Participants will learn to differentiate between instructional teaching and
facilitation methods, develop strategic questions to ask
participants, prompting reflection and behavior change, and be able to describe ways to use experiential
learning methods to increase the effectiveness of group program sessions. Once this course has been
completed, participants must attend the
Skill Builder Workshop via digital platform with an American Lung Association Facilitator Trainer to
complete and receive their facilitator certification.
