Asthma Management Guidelines: A Review for Health Care Professionals

The American Lung Association’s Asthma Guidelines for Health Care Professionals course is a free training designed to help health care professionals learn and apply guidelines-based asthma care.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define the role of asthma severity and control in Stepwise Therapy;
  • Utilize SMART (Single Maintenance and Rescue Therapy) for the appropriate patients with asthma;
  • Determine appropriate asthma medications and proper inhaler techniques;
  • Guide patients in allergen mitigation efforts; and
  • Provide resources to support patient asthma self-management.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the New Mexico Medical Society (NMMS) through the joint providership of the Greater Albuquerque Medical Association and The American Lung Association. The Greater Albuquerque Medical Association is accredited by the NMMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians. GAMA designates this enduring material activity for a maximum of 1 hour AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
